It appears that Romelu Lukaku could very well be returning to Inter this summer, one year after leaving them in a fanfare transfer to Chelsea.
The comeback to the Blues came as the player wanted to prove himself in the Premier League once again at a club where his first spell didn’t exactly go to plan, but that didn’t go as planned, as the striker never gelled with Thomas Tuchel or his way of playing football.
He ended the season with a disappointing tally of 15 goals and three assists in 44 appearances in all competitions, and swiftly put into motion a desire to go back to Italy.
There were doubts at first, but with a change of ownership at Stamford Bridge, doors have been opened as Todd Boehly looks to give Tuchel all the tools he needs to succeed.
FC Inter News have an article on the matter on Thursday, explaining that ‘what seemed like a market madness is about to become tangible reality’.
This is because ‘despite the distance between Chelsea’s request and Inter’s offer for a paid loan, the Nerazzuri are now convinced that the deal will be made’.
Not only that, but ‘the timing will also be tight, to the point that the Belgian could complete the transfer even before Dybala, blocked for some time now’.
Inter’s optimism has even reached a stage where ‘the intention is to complete all formalities, from bureaucratic to medical, as early as next week’, as the deadline to take advantage of the Growth Decree, June 30th, is around the corner.
