Ronald Koeman’s sacking at Barcelona not only opens a flood of rumours about the club’s next manager, but also regarding the signings that could take place at the Camp Nou.

Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling has, for the past few weeks, many times been linked to the Catalan club, even when the Dutchman’s job didn’t seem to be at risk.

And despite the change of management at Barça, it now looks like the English player will continue to be a primary target for the club in the upcoming transfer window.

Barcelona legend Xavi is the front runner for the job, and according to reports from the Spanish media, Sterling is one of the players on his wish list.

Journalist Gerard Romero claims that Sterling is a profile that Xavi ‘likes a lot’.

The potential new manager is looking for a new winger, and as he plans to use a 4-3-3 system, the Manchester City player would be part of it.

This time, however, there’s no information on how much Barça could pay Pep Guardiola’s side for the transfer.

Valued by Transfermarkt at €90m, Sterling has a contract with Manchester City expiring in 2023.
