Whilst it’s widely known Borussia Dortmund always wanted an option to sign Michy Batshuayi permanently from Chelsea, and would be interested in talks again, it’s still some leap for the German club to confirm that publicly.

Bild go with a big transfer story on Saturday and state Dortmund have a plan to sign the Belgian striker, and will be making a move for him in the summer window.

They’ve even managed to get a quote from BVB’s Hans-Joachim Watzke, who told the German newspaper: “The interest to sign him is basically there. Chelsea have two strikers with Giroud and Morata anyway. But first we have to wait and see who will be Chelsea’s coach next season. Then we’ll see.”

Watzke believes that Antonio Conte staying at Chelsea, against all the odds, would increase Dortmund’s chances of being able to sign their target.

However, the fee being pushed by Bild seems way below what Chelsea would accept. It’s stated: ‘For 40 million euros. Borussia wants to buy Batshi!’

That may well be what Dortmund want, and the starting price for negotiations they’re trying to get out there, but Chelsea are experienced enough in modern transfers to know how these games work.
