Spanish side Sevilla are celebrating Youssef En Nesyri’s performances at the World Cup, as they eye up a potential sale to West Ham United.

That’s according to Marca, who say the striker’s return to goalscoring form is being warmly welcomed by the La Liga club.

They explain that En Nesyri’s goal in the 2-0 win over Canada this week made him the first Moroccan player to score in two World Cups, but it is seen as ‘good news’ for more than just that.

The Moroccan had not had a good start to the season and his numbers reflect that, with his last strike for Sevilla coming on October 25th.

That was bad news for Sevilla as the club need to invest in the January transfer window and En Nesyri was one of the assets they were looking to sell.

His value had been dropping because of his lack of goals, but the World Cup has been ‘a good showcase’ and they are ‘willing to listen to offers’ for the striker.

One could come from West Ham, who are an ‘old acquaintance’ after trying to sign the striker in January 2021 and returning for him the following summer.

They again showed interest in June of this year, but the player closed the door on a possible exit, making it clear he would prefer to stay at Sevilla than join the Hammers.

That could have changed after a miserable spell at the Nervión and his goalscoring form at the World Cup may put him back in the spotlight ahead of January.

That is certainly something Sevilla would welcome as they hope West Ham come calling again so they can make a sale and rebuild their forward line for Jorge Sampaoli.
