With all the talk that the City Football Group were looking in Brazil for a club to add to their portfolio, it’s in the Netherlands that a deal is about to be struck.

With Manchester City top of the pile in the hierarchy, it’s clear that any club that joins the group are there to help develop talent for Pep Guardiola and co., all the while helping their own interests in the process.

This is what is about to happen with NAC Breda, who announced on Wednesday that they are on the verge of joining the City Football Group.

Taking to their official website to announce the news, the Keuken Kampioen Divisie club (Holland’s second tier) state ‘the sales process is entering the final phase and the shareholders and City Football Group assume that preparations for the new season can be started in the short term’.

This means they will join the likes of Manchester City, Troyes in France, Lommel SK in Belgium, Melbourne City FC in Australia and Montevideo City Torque in Uruguay, among others, to have some or all of their shares owned by the group founded by Sheikh Mansour and Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak.

What this means for the Premier League leaders remains to be seen, but as acknowledged by NAC Breda, the two clubs have worked together in the past.

Players such as Angeliño, Thierry Ambrose and Manu Garcia have spent time with the Dutch side on loan from Manchester City, all developing nicely to then either get sold on or feature for the Etihad Stadium based club.
