Earlier this week, Spanish newspaper AS published a story reporting Barcelona’s interest in Sporting fullback Nuno Mendes.

The outlet pointed out that the biggest competitors for his signing are Manchester City, whose chase for the player has been reported by the Portuguese media as well.

It’s no surprise to see Lisbon newspapers covering the story today, and A Bola is the one who has something to say about it.

They say Sporting ‘admit’ they’ll end up selling Nuno Mendes soon, but they’ve set a price for him, which is said to be ‘high’, and over €50m.

A Bola writes there have been approaches from some clubs for Nuno Mendes, although they aren’t named, as they all want to know Sporting’s intentions with the player, whose release clause sits at a hefty €70m.

Manchester City’s interest in Mendes was first reported last week and repeated many times since then.

Pep Guardiola is said to be an admirer of the 18-year-old, who’s been impressing in his first full season as a professional at Sporting.
