According to a claim in the Swedish media, Celtic defender Mikael Lustig will be leaving the Scottish Premiership champions this summer.

The Sweden international’s contract with Celtic will expire at the end of the month and it looks like the Hoops will not be taking up their option to extend his stay for another season.

Fotboll Direkt have reported on the latest developments regarding Lustig’s future at Celtic Park and they claim they have a Scottish source who has told them the player won’t be offered a renewal.

It’s reported the veteran defender isn’t in the long term plans of Celtic, and Fotboll Direkt say he will subsequently move on next month.

Earlier this week we covered comments he made to the Swedish press in which he confirmed there was interest from Malmo. The player has also been linked with Swedish champions AIK in recent months.

It’s also reported clubs outside of Sweden are looking to sign the 32 year old.
