Bayern Munich are now firmly ‘back in the race’ for Southampton defender Arme Bella-Kotchap, with talks for Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah now off the table.

That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, who says the German giants are now reopening talks with Southampton over the defender.

They’re keen to add to their defensive line after selling Benjamin Pavard to Inter Milan and had been targeting Chalobah, who he worked with at Stamford Bridge.

However, according to Plettenberg’s information, that deal is ‘close to being off’ and so Bayern Munich have turned their attention towards Southampton once again.

They’ve been credited with an interest in Bella-Kotchap for much of the summer, with it even reported that they were tussling with Borussia Dortmund for his signature.

Indeed, it had appeared he would be on the way to Dortmund at one point, before it was reported earlier today that Southampton’s demands were too much and stopping a deal from happening.

They may regret not having that money available now, though, as Bayern are ‘in contact again’ with Southampton over the defender.

Whether they’re willing to pay what the Saints want, or have the money available to do so, remains to be seen, but Bella-Kotchap appears likely to be a hot topic over the next 24 hours.
