Brentford have made an attempt for the signing of PSV star Johan Bakayoko, according to reports.

Journalist Loic Tanzi writes on Twitter that the Bees are offering €35m up front plus €5m in bonuses for the signing, making it a €40m package.

There seems to be a positive response from PSV, because the story claims that the clubs are trying to conclude the transfer ‘in the next few hours’.

Brentford’s interest in Bakayoko seems to be pretty recent, as it was on Tuesday that the chase was first reported.

A story from journalist Sacha Tavolieri had said the Bees would be placing a €25m plus €5m bid in the ‘next 48 hours’.

He got the timetable right, but it seems the bid on the table ended up being even bigger.

Bakayoko already made four appearances for PSV this season, with four assists made in the Champions League’s playoffs. The Dutch side wanted the qualification to the group stade guaranteed before making major deals so late in the window.

With that obstacle out of the way, Brentford now seem close on concluding their signing.
