The City Group are close to making the signing of Atlético Mineiro youngster Savinho, according to claims from Brazil.

Radio 98 Live were the first to break the news saying Manchester City’s owners have advanced talks to buy the winger for €6.5m plus bonuses.

Even though that isn’t a big outlet bringing the information, the claims were soon backed up by big sources such as Globo Esporte, Goal Brasil and UOL.

The story says that despite moving to the City Group, Savinho probably won’t move to Manchester City at first. He’s likely to first play for one of their partners in Europe, such as Troyes, Girona or Lommel.

Goal Brasil adds that Atlético Mineiro will have 12.5% of a future move, and according to Globo Esporte, the performance bonuses could make the deal reach €10m.

Now even though several outlets are claiming a deal is close, that’s not confirmed by the player’s agent. Savinho’s agent Juliano Rodrigues told O Tempo it’s all gossip for now.

“That doesn’t exist, it’s just speculation. He’s calm at Atlético. What he had were polls, but at the beginning of the year, as was reported, like Red Bull Bragantino and European clubs.”
