On Friday afternoon, Vasco da Gama announced the sale of Andrey Santos to Chelsea.

It had already been confirmed that the player was in London to sort out the final details for the move, and the Brazilian club released an official statement about the move.

Now as Globo Esporte bring more details, they claim Andrey Santos is trying to convince Chelsea to let him play in the U20 South American Championship for Brazil.

It’s claimed that the player and his staff are ‘doing everything’ for him to be released by the Blues and join the national team. He was called up for the tournament, with the squad meeting on Thursday, but couldn’t present himself.

According to Globo Esporte, Andrey signed his contract with Chelsea on Thursday, and even watched the game against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge. Now he’s set for medical examinations and via formalities.

Brazil’s first game in the U20 South American championship is on the 19th of January, so if Chelsea want him to feature, there should be enough time for him to join the squad.
