Brazilian side Grêmio are interested in signing Andreas Pereira from Fulham, according to reports from Brazil.

Torcedores claims the Tricolor have made an approach to sign the midfielder on a loan deal.

The arrival of the Fulham player is a wish from manager Renato Portaluppi, and the story claims two sources from Grêmio confirmed this first contact for the signing.

There are, however, two big issues for that to happen, and the first is Pereira’s salary. It’s said he makes £2.5m per year at the Whites, and the Brazilian club could only afford half of that.

The other problem is convincing Fulham. According to Torcedores, agent Giuliano Bertolucci has been working on that, telling them to let him leave on loan until ‘the end of the season’, although it’s not clear whether that’s the English season, which finishes in May, or the Brazilian, which goes on until December.

Grêmio recently made the signing of Uruguayan star Luis Suárez and seem very confident in the transfer market. However, it still sounds crazy for them to go after Andreas Pereira, since the player has just joined Fulham in a move from Manchester United and was a starter in every single game Marco Silva’s side played in the Premier League this year.

It’s hard to imagine a scenario where Fulham would just let him leave on loan right now, and even tougher to believe that his agent or the player himself would like such a move at this stage.

So it’s a strange rumour for now.
