Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata has been selected in Gazzetta dello Sport’s European Team of the Week for the weekend’s round of matches.

Each week the Italian newspaper selects the best eleven from players outside of Serie A, and this week the Spain international has been picked after his performance against Stoke City on Saturday.

Morata impressed for Chelsea during the West London side’s 4-0 victory over Stoke City at the weekend, when the former Real Madrid star was on hand to score three goals. Chelsea’s win over Mark Hughes’ side kept them on the tails of the two Manchester clubs after the opening six league games.

The Spaniard was signed in the summer by Chelsea after they lost out in the race to sign Everton forward Romelu Lukaku, but Morata has been in good goalscoring form in the absence of Diego Costa.

The 24 year old already has six goals in the Premier League this season, and he’s also provided two assists.
