Earlier today, we covered reports from France which said Edouard Mendy’s transfer from Rennes to Chelsea was pretty much agreed.
Canal+ journalist Paul Tchoukriel said the clubs had reached a deal for the Blues to pay €22m as a guaranteed amount, and a further €6m in potential bonus payments.
The report labelled the move as ‘imminent’, and things looked pretty optimistic, but further claims from France say the deal isn’t done yet.
Telefoot journalist Fabrice Hawkins has brought an update, and he says the player is still waiting for the clubs to reach an agreement.
The reporter claims that Rennes’ intention is to make a deal in which Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori is included. It’s not made clear whether they want a loan or permanent transfer, although a temporary move seems the likelier scenario at this stage.
That could benefit everyone involved, but makes the transfer a little more difficult to complete.
