AS Roma currently find themselves 12th in Serie A and their decision to boot Daniele De Rossi out increasingly appears to have been a cursed one.
The club finished sixth last season and obviously the aim had been to kick on from there. The Friedkin Group didn’t think club legend De Rossi could achieve that and dispensed with his services.
That decision didn’t go down well with the club’s fanbase, and if the Friedkin Group needing prepping for an emotional support at Everton then they’ve had the perfect experience in Rome.
Ivan Juric, De Rossi’s replacement, has been living a bit of a managerial nightmare and there’s already reports he could soon be shown the door.
That’s seen a stream of potential options being reported, with Frank Lampard somehow having his name crowbarred into the discussions.
Initial reports from the Italian media stated it had been Everton sources who recommended Lampard to the Serie A side.
That sounded somewhat questionable, given Lampard lasted less than a year at Goodison Park. Corriere dello Sport now report it wasn’t Everton sources who recommended the Chelsea legend, but rather his agent.
That, of course, makes much more sense.
