Chelsea are in the process of finding a new owner, something which will be a frustrating and worrying period for fan.

Following sanctions on Roman Abramovich, they cannot make new signings or offer contract extensions to their current players. Despite the current situation, reports linking them to other players have not stopped.

AS on Wednesday explain AS Monaco’s Aurélien Tchouaméni is ‘one of the priorities’ for the west London club in the summer.

Their title states ‘Chelsea enter the fight’ for 22-year-old. They have joined Real Madrid in the chase for the AS Monaco star and these two teams ‘start with an advantage’ in the signing operation, with the player ‘seduced’ by the idea of playing for the La Liga side.

If Los Blancos decide to make an approach for the France international, he will prioritise their offer. However, Chelsea pose the ‘main obstacle’ for Real Madrid as Thomas Tuchel’s side [and Paris Saint-Germain], can ‘offer him more money’.

The option to take the midfielder ‘would be a utopia’ (a dream they can’t reach), if Carlo Ancelotti’s side sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund. If they fail to take the Norwegian, they would ‘activate the option’ to sign the Monaco player.

PSG, who it’s said have Paul Pogba as their priority target, entered the race for Tchouaméni in recent weeks. However, they start with a disadvantage when compared to both Real Madrid and Chelsea as these two ‘right now’ are the ‘best positioned’ teams to land the Frenchman.

Monaco have set a €60m price-tag for their star. If a proposal comes close to their valuation, they will not put any obstacles in the way of Tchouaméni changing clubs, more so if they fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
