It may not be an exaggeration to say the Italian and English media have linked around half the Premier League with Atalanta’s Franck Kessie. It also probably wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say the Italian press have reported some kind of bid from around a quarter of Premier League clubs.

Antonio Conte’s Chelsea have been repeatedly involved, but then so have Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Everton, Tottenham and others.

Sure, the 20 year old had a great start to the season, and it’s true Sunderland tried to buy him in the summer, failing due to work permit issues, but it’s hard to believe all the reports have been correct.

Therefore it’s worth taking everything Kessie related with a pinch of salt.

Nevertheless, TMW report another exclsuive on Friday, saying Chelsea talks to buy the player are at an ‘advanaced stage’. However, Atalanta would like to keep him until the summer, so a deal could only be completed then.

TMW say Chelsea are now well ahead of their Premier League rivals in the race to sign Kessie, with Liverpool and Everton the pair mentioned this time.
