Pep Guardiola isn’t having the best time in his career as a football manager. Taking over at Manchester City was always likely to be the hardest role Guardiola had faced since becoming a manager, and his attitude in recent weeks hasn’t helped him.

Welcomed to England as some kind of messiah, thanks to an amazing record, Guardiola started off brilliantly and everyone was underlining his god-like status. A few bumps in the road led to understandable criticism, and Guardiola’s petulant reaction hasn’t been great.

The English press haven’t been particularly hard on Guardiola, but German newspaper Bild believe Robert Lewandowski has had a go. Bild reckon comments from Lewandowski are a direct snipe at the former Bayern Munich manager over his conditioning of the team and preparation for the second half of the past two seasons.

Bayern have disappointed in the Champions League in recent years, and Lewandowski believes the team faded as the season grew older.

The striker is quoted as saying, whilst at Bayern’s mid-season training camp: “In this second round we will play even better! We will be tactical and conditionally better. In the last two years we have always had problems at the end of the season – even with the conditioning and many injured.”

To us it doesn’t look to be a direct snipe at Guardiola, it just sounds like a player very happy with the training camp.
