Once the main story driving the Milan transfer rumour mill, the idea of Hakim Ziyech leaving Chelsea for San Siro has cooled down a bit.

Their interest in Charles de Ketelaere is the cause of that, who is now their main target to give Stefano Pioli more attacking options for next season.

However, the Chelsea player hasn’t been entirely forgotten, as explained by Corriere dello Sport on Friday in their paper edition.

The outlet make it clear the deal ‘had been put on standby’ to give priority to De Ketelaere, ‘but there has been an update with the intermediaries in the past few hours’.

What needs to happen for a Ziyech move from Chelsea to Milan is for the player to ‘lower the request for his wages, currently at around €6m’, or that the Blues contribute a bit.

There is still no agreement between the two clubs either, as Milan want an option to buy, while the Stamford Bridge side want it to be mandatory.

The key in all this could be Roc Nation, ‘who helped Lukaku leave London to wear the Inter shirt again’, and they could be ‘instrumental in Ziyech’s move to Milan’.
