Cast your mind all the way to, well, this morning, and you may remember a report from Spanish newspaper AS which stated Manchester United are ‘beating’ Chelsea as the clubs apparently tussle to sign Saúl Ñiguez.

To be clear, the Spanish newspaper stated: ‘The club with the most ballots at the moment is Manchester United, who are beating Chelsea.’

The story has rumbled on throughout the day, and now AS have published a fresh article in which they state: ‘The best placed to take over his services seems to be Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea.’

AS appear to lean, at least slightly, on reports from England for their latest claim, yet it’s still odd that they don’t even reference their own report from earlier today, and don’t even mention Manchester United.

The initial article had presented a move to the Premier League as ‘imminent’ for the Atletico Madrid midfielder, although now it’s explained Los Rojiblancos are still looking for a destination and if that’s to be Chelsea then further sales will be needed at Stamford Bridge.

On top of that, Jules Kounde is thought to be the club’s next priority.
