Last night, reports from the Brazilian media revealed that Fulham are in talks to sign Corinthians winger Willian.

It was claimed the Craven Cottage side are ‘already negotiating details’ with the player, who’s going through a hard time at the Timão.

Now as Jorge Nicola comes up with an update on the situation, he claims that even though Corinthians deny having received any contact from Fulham, he heard from ‘a friend close to Willian’ that the Brazilian club asked for a few days to give an answer to the situation.

This week, the Timão lost the Copa Libertadores quarter-finals first leg to Flamengo at home, 2-0. They’re playing the second game on Tuesday, and if they’re knocked out, which is the most likely scenario, then they’ll ‘accept making a deal’ with the Whites.

Although it was claimed by Goal that Willian has a clause in his contract which facilitates his move to Europe, Nicola denies it, saying there’ll have to be a negotiation with Corinthians.

Nicola also pointed out that Willian is represented by Kia Joorabchian, who’s a partner of Giuliano Bertolucci, the agent who works with Andreas Pereira, one of Fulham’s signings this window.
