Never has Sport Witness published so many articles about a single player in 24 hours as we’ve done on Maxi Gomez.

Such a transfer saga is usually saved for the days leading up the close of a window, but West Ham’s pursuit of the Celta Vigo player has been hugely dramatic with several developments in a short space of time.

Super Deporte have an interesting article on Saturday afternoon, claiming the agreement for Santi Mina to move to Celta Vigo will be respected regardless of what happens with Gomez.

That sounds like good news for West Ham, with Celta really wanting the player who was set to be part of the Uruguayan’s transfer.

Gomez to Valencia is said to now rest on a payment to the player’s agents. It’s claimed Stellar Group are looking for more than €3m, having paid €1m a year ago to take him from another agency.

The Hammers are willing to pay the fee.

A source at the Vigo club has told Super Deporte: “Celta is respecting the agreement with Valencia, they know we are not going to negotiate with the English club for Maxi, but we can do little more, we have talked with Valencia, if they pay their clause and Maxi accepts to go to the Premier League, we we can’t prevent it.”

That would mean West Ham parting with €50m, in one payment, plus the €3m.
