When Saïd Benrahma starting losing his spot this season at West Ham United, the idea of a move away from the Hammers quickly appeared.

Many clubs were interested, but it’s Lyon, albeit with some drama, who managed to win the race for the Algeria international, taking him away on a paid loan with an option to buy.

Whether he returns to West Ham depends on the Ligue 1 side, but also on the player himself, who will have to impress, and get along with his teammates, as explained in an article on 20 Minutes in France.

Speaking to Paulin Puel, son of Claude Puel, who managed Benrahma at OGC Nice, the outlet wanted to discover a bit more about the winger.

They reached the point of his career when Lucien Favre decided not to use the forward in the south of France, which eventually led to a move away.

Puel Jr explained: “Some players are capable of having thick skin when they are lacking time on the pitch, but Saïd is impatient: he quickly wants to look elsewhere if he isn’t play and show that he’s frustrated. Careful, he’s not at all unmanageable, but he’s impulsive and can react inappropriately, before quickly coming to his senses.”

Whether that’s something that happened at West Ham isn’t said, but it might be an insight as to what might have happened behind the scenes with the Hammers, eventually leading to his move to Lyon.
