The Brazilian media today reveals interest from Brighton & Hove Albion in Atlético Mineiro youngster Isaac Tomich.

The information is brought by Trivela, who are actually reporting that the player is close to moving to Coritiba.

It’s said that he’s already accepted Coxa’s offer and will sign a pre-contract, as his deal with Atletico expires in April.

And where do Brighton get a mention in all this? Well, according to Trivela, the Seagulls made contact for the player back in November.

The outlet points out that at the time, they only wrote that an unnamed Premier League side were in the competition for the striker, as well as many Brazilian sides.

It’s only now that Brighton’s name is revealed, with the outlet pointing out the ‘good recruitment’ that the Seagulls conduct in the South American market.

Either way, it’s really Coritiba who seem about to win that race, as they should soon announce the 19-year-old’s arrival.

Brighton can now keep watching the youngster, even though they will no longer have the chance to sign him for free.
