Brighton & Hove Albion are one of the clubs who are interested in Lyon youngster Mahamadou Diawara, according to reports from France.

Foot Mercato today reveals that following the end of the winter transfer window, several clubs are now interested in signing the midfielder in the summer.

Besides Brighton, the likes of Freiburg, Royal Antwerp, Lens and Borussia Dortmund are all said to be keen on the player as well. Not to mention those who tried a loan in January, which were Clermont, Annecy and Toulouse.

Those ‘concrete offers’ are expected to arrive soon, although there’s no information on Lyon’s stance on selling the player.

Diawara is a product of Paris Saint Germain’s academy and moved to the club last summer. So far, he made ten appearances for the first team, and is still fighting for his space there.

Since he’s just 18, it would be a little weird to see Lyon just giving him up like that, so we’ll have to see how they’ll react to the offers, especially because Brighton would hardly be interested in just a loan deal.

That being said, the Seagulls have shown they are not scared to get unexperienced players at high prices, having recently done exactly the same with Carlos Baleba from Lille.
