Brighton & Hove Albion have identified Burnley manager Vincent Kompany as one of the candidates to replace Roberto De Zerbi, if the Italian were to leave The Amex.
That’s at least what Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri is reporting, and took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to provide more updates.
De Zerbi has been linked with a few European clubs and faced with the possibility of his exit, Brighton officials are already looking at a few options, and the Burnley manager is said to be on their list.
The journalist claims the Seagulls have already held ‘informal talks’ with the Belgian to know whether it’s possible for him to leave Burnley and join them.
Tavolieri hasn’t mentioned the former Manchester City star’s response, but states Burnley have got in touch with intermediaries to line up a few managers, in the event the 38-year-old decides to leave the Clarets.
Burnley appointed Kompany as their manager in 2022 and he helped them return to the Premier League. They are currently in the relegation zone, 21 points behind Brighton, who are in the 10th spot.
These claims come from Belgium, and are rather fortunate for Kompany… and it’s worth keeping that in mind.
