Regardless of whether he has one or two years left on his deal, it’s going to take a lot of money to buy Paul Pogba from Manchester United.
The Premier League side have no intention of letting a player they spent over €100m on go for peanuts, and Ed Woodward will want to ensure they recoup most, if not all (or more), from any potential sale.
That’s why he didn’t move to Real Madrid last summer, and that’s also probably why he could remain at the club an extra season, especially if the extension in his contract is triggered (regardless of how unhappy that would make him).
L’Equipe on Monday played down a move to Juventus in the summer, and Gazzetta dello Sport make it clear it won’t be easy, and sacrifices will need to be made for that transfer to materialise.
They explain that up to three ‘important players’ could be shown the exit door to help fund their transfer window, which would include an attempt for the France international, with Miralem Pjanić, Douglas Costa and Federico Bernardeschi named.
Paris Saint-Germain have always liked the Bosnian, while Gazzetta suggest the Brazilian could also go, although he could be used in a swap attempt to get Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus
As for Bernardeschi, the arrival of Dejan Kulusevksi from Atalanta in January (he stayed at Parma on loan for the rest of this season) is a sign they could move on from the Italian, who only managed nine starts in the league under Maurizio Sarri.
Either way, it seems like it’s going to take a lot of wheeling and dealing for Juventus to get even close to what Manchester United will want for Pogba.
