Robin Olsen was the victim of a robbery recently, as masked men raided the Everton goalkeeper’s house as his family were present. It was obviously a very difficult time for the Sweden international, and Carlo Ancelotti and others have been quizzed on it.

Victor Lindelof, a friend of Olsen’s, is the latest to knock away questions about the incident, in the much the same way as the Everton manager did.

Currently away with the Swedish national squad, the Manchester United defender was wheeled out for Wednesday’s press conference. When asked about what happened with Olsen, Lindelof is quoted by Fotbollskanalen as saying: “Of course it’s awful. But it’s a private matter, so I’m not comfortable talking about it. But it’s awful, and the rest I keep to myself and with Robin.”

Olsen was just the latest in a long line of footballers to be targeted by burglars, with recent incidents involving Angel Di Maria and Marquinhos at PSG generating many headlines and potentially causing worry in wider football.

Lindelof was asked if the Olsen incident has made him feel more anxious about his own situation, and whether that’s seen the Manchester United player seek stronger security for his house and family: “A lot has happened around that area. I also live there. I heard about it already when I got to United. But I cannot think about it all the time. It’s a hard question. I just try to live my life as usual, but when things happen as close as possible, you are more vigilant.

“We have pretty good (security) all the time. We were only told that it had happened, not much more than that.”
