Aston Villa star Pau Torres has admitted he misses the food in Spain, but that’s his only problem since arriving in the summer.

The defender has been speaking to journalist Gerard Romero on Twitch, relayed by AS, about life at Aston Villa so far after arriving from Villarreal in the summer transfer window.

That move saw him make his first outside of Spain in his career having spent all of his career with Villarreal before then, starting in their youth set up before moving up to the first team.

It means he’s had to do a lot of adapting in a short space of time, with him and his family moving to a new country and adapting to a new culture for the first time.

Fortunately for him he has reunited with former manager Unai Emery at Villa Park, with the pair also having worked together at Villarreal during the Spanish boss’ time in charge there.

That, plus a Spanish speaking contingent at Villa Park has helped but he admits there’s one major issue he’s yet to resolve.

“It has been important to know both Unai and his staff and having them at Villarreal,” he said.

“Entering the Premier with a coach who knew me has been a good decision. They have made adaptation easier for me.

“On a personal level, very happy. Inside the locker room is Alex Moreno, another Spaniard, with his Spanish wife.

“We live in a very quiet area next to Dibu and Emi Buendía. We can get together outside of training. For the days that are long and if we have to travel, our women can get together.

“(But) I miss the food. In the sports city it is fine. But in Villarreal we ate very well and at home… We still don’t know where to buy the best quality food, but the fruit and vegetables are not as good as at home.

“He who does not enter the house (for a visit) with food does not have a room. He goes to a motel.”
