As the Brazilian race for the signing of Aston Villa striker Wesley Moraes goes on, website Nosso Palestra today brings an update on the talks for his comeback to his home country.

The 25-year-old, who suffered a severe knee injury last year, is currently loaned to Belgian side Brugge, where he’s getting less playing time than expected.

That’s why Brazilian sides are interested in getting him on loan. Now according to this new report, Palmeiras had a ‘positive response’ in the recent contacts made with the player.

It’s said the talks were handled by agent Hugo Cajuda, who spoke to the player, his staff and Brugge. He learned that the Belgian club have their ‘hands tied’ in case Aston Villa accept his move to South America.

The Premier League side reportedly see Brazil as a ‘good showcase’ for the player to get minutes, as he wasn’t able to have a good sequence this season yet.

Nosso Palestra also speaks about the ‘family issues’. Wesley is about to become a father in the coming days, and he and his wife consider it would be a good idea to live in Brazil for one year.

It’s claimed that Aston Villa are signalling a one-year loan with no buying option included as their ideal scenario.

The clubs are now currently discussing if Palmeiras would pay a fee for the transfer while the Premier League side afford his salary, or if he moves for free and the clubs share his wages.

It’s said the Verdão know about the competition from other Brazilian sides, with local rivals São Paulo in the race, and ‘made it clear they won’t take part in any type of auction’.
