Despite the confidence that Aston Villa were on the verge of signing Nicolò Zaniolo from Galatasaray, there are now ‘doubts’ about his physical condition.

This is what Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting on Friday morning, as he claims that the Italian’s future ‘has not yet been decided’.

The player, who is close to joining Aston Villa after the two clubs agreed a deal, ‘underwent medical examinations’ with the Premier League club over the past few days, likely to check both his knees.

Following these, the Birmingham based club have ‘yet to definitively decide’ whether they want to go through with the deal.

Di Marzio states that ‘considering the many injuries’ the Italy international has suffered over the past few years, and his ‘high risk of muscle injuries’, Aston Villa have asked Galatasaray for ‘guarantees’.

These are likely to be ‘linked to payments’ in case something happens to the player soon after he arrives.

Aston Villa’s decision is expected to arrive ‘in the next few hours’, meaning they will either go through with the transfer or ‘blow it up’ completely, and move onto another target as Zaniolo heads back to Turkey.
