If you are a Chelsea fan hoping that your club gets a deal over the line to sign Dusan Vlahovic and send Romelu Lukaku the other way, don’t hold your breath.

That is, in essence, what Gazzetta dello Sport tell their readers on Friday, as they anticipate the start of the Serie A season, with Juventus kicking off their campaign against Udinese.

They look at the Serbian striker, who has long been linked with a move to Chelsea, and explain he is very likely to start in Max Allegri’s line up on Sunday evening.

The reason for that is simple, because it is ‘certainly difficult to imagine’ that the player could leave before then, since ‘there is no negotiation concerning him at the moment’.

Talks with Chelsea about an exchange with Lukaku are ‘frozen’, meaning the player is solely focused on the next Juventus game.

He doesn’t mind that, as the Serbian striker ‘would like to stay’ in Turin, regardless of the fact they are not playing in a European competition next year, because he wants to ‘show the fans that he is much more than what has been seen so far’.

Vlahovic wants to convince everyone he is worth the €80m his club paid for him, and that’s why he ‘can’t wait to take the field on Sunday evening’.

A transfer to Chelsea is clearly very far from his plans right now, and unless something drastic changes, he will be staying put.
