Arsenal’s interest in Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinković-Savić today gets an update from the Italian media.

That comes in a story from Gazzetta Dello Sport, as they feature a piece claiming the 27-year-old has a great goal record against Atalanta, the club he’s facing at the weekend, they also point out the player could be having his final season in Serie A.

It’s highlighted that Milinković-Savić’s contract with Lazio expires in 2024, and despite some talks regarding a possible new contract, the parties ‘remain distant’ for a renewal.

That’s why the Serie A side would rather sell him next summer than losing him for free in a year, as long as decent offers arrive on their table.

That’s why Arsenal are said to be a contender ‘in particular’.

Gazzetta recalls that the Gunners made an attempt last summer, and despite their failure back then, they ‘seem willing’ to make a new effort to get the deal done in the coming months.

With Arsenal set to be back in the Champions League, they’re expected to make ‘large investments’ in the squad, and that’s why a deal with Lazio would be likelier this time.
