Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin has returned to Arsenal from the Spanish U21 set-up, with the official statement from Rfef not explaining what injury the defender is suffering from.

Spanish newspaper Marca say Bellerin has ‘rotura de ligamento’, which means ruptured the ligaments, more commonly referred in English as torn ligaments.

That would of course be a major worry for Arsenal and Arsene Wenger, with Marca making it sound like this isn’t just something which will disappear as he’s had a few days rest.

They state Bellerin wasn’t able to take part in training after leaving Arsenal to join up with the U21 squad.

Mundo Deportivo report in their Thursday edition that the Arsenal player was feeling ‘discomfort after receiving a heavy blow last weekend in the game he played with the Gunners against Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham’.

Sport say that Bellerin has been carrying an ankle issue for weeks, which may fit in with claims made during the last international break.

Marca said Bellerin had been on the end of a ‘nasty tackle’ against san Marino, which resulted in an ankle injury.

That was just over a month ago.
