Arsenal and Newcastle United target Gabri Veiga seems to be living quite a weird situation at his club Celta de Vigo.

The latest news on the 20-year-old’s future was brought by Tenias Que Haber Tirado show, and is today relayed by Mundo Deportivo.

There, it’s said that despite recent news claiming the likes of Arsenal and Real Madrid are keen on triggering Veiga’s €40m release clause, he’s not interested in leaving Celta de Vigo this summer.

The starlet is said to be planning to stay at the La Liga side for at least one more year. That would be the ideal situation for most clubs out there, but that’s apparently contrary to what the Spanish club want.

The story claims that Celta de Vigo told Veiga that they don’t plan to give him a new contract, as they want to cash in with his sale this summer.

The youngster then got ‘very upset’ and ‘left the meeting crying’ with the club’s attitude.

So the whole scenario may feel like a mixed message for Arsenal and Newcastle, who have been pursuing him over the last few weeks.

Recent claims from the very same Mundo Deportivo even claimed the Gunners would have an advantage in this race, as he would feel more attracted to joining Mikel Arteta’s side.

However, it’s also been said that Newcastle want to trigger that release clause as well, so the Magpies still seem alive in this battle and could come to the rescue at a tough time.
