Over the January transfer window, Arsenal were one of the clubs keen on signing Ivan Fresneda from Real Valladolid, and he was very delighted and proud about that.

The 18-year-old has surprised everyone this season with his performances in La Liga, and that’s why clubs like the Gunners have been circling, alongside Borussia Dortmund and Sporting CP.

However, if Mais Futebol are to be believed on Thursday, it’s the German side who have taken the lead and could beat everyone, including Arsenal, to the punch.

They know this because Sporting recently came forward to ‘seek information’ about the Spaniard, only to be told the Bundesliga have ‘advanced in negotiations’ to sign Fresneda.

They mention he’s ‘also a target’ for Arsenal, but it’s believed the ‘Germans will prevail’ at this moment in time.

This means that should Mikel Arteta really want to work with his compatriot at the Emirates next season, then they will have to move very quickly to avoid losing the race to Dortmund.

The right-back has made 16 appearances in all competitions this season for the La Liga side, including starting and finishing the last four league games.
