Arsenal’s demands for goalkeeper Bernd Leno are holding up a potential move to Fulham this summer.

That’s according to Sport 1 journalist Florian Plettenburg, who says Arsenal’s £11m demands are too high for Fulham at this stage.

We covered a report yesterday that stated negotiations between Arsenal and Fulham over Leno were picking up, and an agreement for the goalkeeper could be reached this week.

It seems that might have been slightly optimistic, though, with Plettenburg reporting today that Arsenal are ‘demanding too much money’ for the German.

The Gunners want ‘around £11m’ to sanction a deal for Leno, but that figure is too high for Fulham’s tastes for the time being.

Negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing because Leno ‘wants this transfer’ and ‘hopes for an agreement’ to be reached so he can make the move.

Why that is the case isn’t mentioned, but Leno did fall out of favour after Aaron Ramsdale’s move to the Emirates last summer, so perhaps he just wants regular football elsewhere, particularly in a World Cup year.

It seems there’s work to be done to make a deal happen then, even if he’s made his stance plainly clear.
