While Arsenal have been busy bolstering their forward line this summer, their defence has remained untouched, and that is a concern.

There is no denying that the Gunners need to improve their backline, with it clear that’s the real weak point in Unai Emery’s team.

Securing a central defender would make this an excellent window at the Emirates, and it appears they are pushing to sign Daniele Rugani from Juventus.

Tuttosport report today that the Gunners have already met with Fabio Paratici when he was in London, and proposed a loan offer. That, however, was rejected outright by Juventus.

They will consider a full transfer, though, so long as it is a ‘serious’ offer. Tuttosport explain Juventus value Rugani at €30-40m and will consider a sale as they currently have five centre backs on their books.

Arsenal would need to offer a ‘fair amount’ for Juventus to seriously consider a bid, especially as Rugani is a known favourite of Maurizio Sarri.

Wolves are also interested in the Italian, but Arsenal is considered the more attractive move.
