Athletic’s Nico Williams has been linked with Arsenal, Aston Villa and a few other clubs in recent months.

Aston Villa were credited with an interest in the winger before he signed a new deal last December. They continue to be pushed forward as a candidate, along with the Gunners.

That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who have named both Arsenal and Aston Villa as interested parties for the 21-year-old.

Athletic have already agreed a deal with Braga for Álvaro Djaló to arrive in the summer, and their director, Mikel González, has insisted this operation isn’t linked to Williams’ possible exit.

ED relay that and then state the La Liga side have a desire to retain Williams, amid interest from Arsenal, Aston Villa and others.

The Spain international has extended his contract until 2027 and with that, the report says his clause has been raised from €50m to €55m. It’s claimed his current asking price wouldn’t stop the Premier League sides.

To sum it up, Athletic want to retain the star but could risk losing him to Arsenal, Aston Villa or another English club due to the €55m clause.

Williams has scored six goals and registered 12 assists from 28 games this season.
