The agent of AC Milan attacker Keisuke Honda has told the Italian media his client could struggle in the Premier League. The Japan international will be a free agent in the summer, and in recent days has been linked with a move to Sunderland.

Speaking to TMW, Yuya Kubo said he wants Honda to remain in a major league in Europe, but has doubts about the player having the physique to play in the English top flight. However, Kubo said they will keep their options open, and could still consider a move to the Premier League.

“I believe in the Bundesliga, Liga or Serie A. Perhaps the Premier is too physical for a player like him… although it’s not ruled out. We’ll see what happens,” said Honda’s agent.

According to claims in Italy Sunderland could be interested in landing Honda on a free transfer after being linked with the player in the last window. The Premier League side will be looking to strengthen in the next transfer window, but it depends on the circumstances of both clubs.

With Sunderland facing the prospect of dropping down to the Championship it would be difficult convincing Honda to sign for them, especially after the comments from his agent.
