Bad news for Everton comes from Argentina, with La Nacion and others all reporting Ramiro Funes Mori is set to go under the knife on Tuesday.

Initial diagnosis of a meniscus tear has been backed up, but it’s now explained it’s a more serious situation than first thought, which will lead to surgery. La Nacion expect Funes Mori to be out of action for a couple of months, ruling him out for the rest of the Premier League season.

Without surgery, Funes Mori could have returned for Everton in two to four weeks, and that was the initial expectation. It is possible to come back from the operation quicker than two months, but that’s the time frame being used in Argentina.

It’s been a frustrating international break for Ronald Koeman with several players picking up injury issues. Seamus Coleman has undergone surgery after a double leg fracture and a period dubbed ‘The FIFA Virus’ in Spain is sure to be making Koeman feel sick.
