Two days ago we brought you a report from La Voix du Nord regarding the future of Lille centre back Adama Soumaoro.

The newspaper claimed that the defender was negotiating his exit from the club and that he had already been in contact with Premier League clubs, namely Crystal Palace and Everton.

Monaco were in the hunt for his signature too and had come forward to ‘snatch his services’. That deal progressed rapidly over the next two days and it indeed looked like Monaco would be Soumaoro’s next club.

However, RMC Sport report today that there has been a hitch in the process. According to them, while the players medical went smoothly, Monaco’s ‘leaders’ and particularly their medical staff, asked for more assurances from Lille.

Lille refused to provide that and, a source close to Monaco has now told the RMC that ‘a financial disagreement at the last moment’ is holding up the move.

That has left Soumaoro in deadlock as far as his move to Monaco is concerned, adding that he has serious offers from abroad as an alternative.

Those could be Everton and Palace and this delay would allow them to move for the defender.

The reported €15m asking price from earlier reports is not too much for a Premier League side, particularly for Everton, who may need an alternative if they can’t get Kurt Zouma from Chelsea this summer.
