De Telegraaf have great connections to Eredivisie clubs. Whenever a player is moving from the Netherlands to English football, it’s usually the Dutch newspaper leading the way with the claims.

They’re also able to reveal transfer fees at a time when clubs increasingly mark them as undisclosed and let the guesswork begin. This week Sheffield Wednesday signed Joey Pelupessy  from Heracles on an undisclosed fee and even undisclosed contract length, but De Telegraaf quickly revealed it to be just under €500k and two and a half years.

Covering Jurgen Locadia’s move from PSV to Brighton & Hove Albion, De Telegraaf said the price would be €15-20m, and now the deal is finalised they have the figure.

Brighton are paying PSV €17m as a flat fee, which works out to be £15m. On top of that the Premier League club will also pay bonuses and, when Locadia is sold, PSV are due a percentage of the fee.

PSV simply couldn’t refuse such an amount given their sticky financial situation and that Locadia is currently injured and could be out for another month.

It’s potentially a good deal for all involved, and PSV will hope Locadia continues to progress at Brighton, with an eye on their future percentage.
