Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson has been quite vocal with the Swedish media this weekend, discussing his season with the Championship club and his future.

Yesterday Jansson spoke to Fotbollskanalen and confirmed he would discuss his future with his agent Martin Dahlin after the World Cup.

The Leeds United has today discussed his future with Malmo based newspaper Sydsvenskan and has hinted he’ll be at Elland Road next season: “I’m fine even if it was a dull second half of the season in Leeds. I have an important role in the club. I have matured as a player and as a human being.”

“We’ll see where everything ends after the World Cup. There could be a continuation.”

Jansson joined Leeds United on loan in 2016 from Torino and his move was made permanent a few months later.

The Swede has become a cult hero with the Leeds United fans for his uncompromising style and these latest comments should give them hope he will be at the club next season.

The player is contracted to the club until June 2022.
