In mid-March, Le Foot in France brought back the Moussa Dembélé to Marseille story, and, in the grand scheme of things, it makes sense.
Still not 100% convinced by Konstantinos Mitroglou, the Ligue 1 side are still looking for a new striker, preferably a young one they can help develop and perhaps sell for a profit later on (a bit like what they managed to do with Michy Batshuayi).
Fast forward to early April, and France Football also believe the Celtic striker is on Andoni Zubizarreta’s wishlist for Marseille, having tried to sign him last year.
However, there’s a feeling this time around could be the right one, even if the 21-year-old has found some form of late with three goals and two assists in his last four games, and they reckon he could go for as little as €25m.
Whether Celtic and Brendan Rodgers would be OK with a bid of that amount isn’t said, but with two years left on his deal, and no desire to play backup, it could be that Marseille go all out this summer to try and sign him.
With potential Champions League football in the south of France next year, this could be the perfect opportunity for Dembélé to show the world what he can do in a more televised league and allow him to make his dream, which is to play for the France national team, come true.
