Last month, we brought news from Spain that Isaac Success wasn’t exactly having the best of time in Spain.
Sent to Malaga in order to get some game time, the Nigerian forward had, at that point, only played 12 minutes of football for his new club, coming off the bench, only to then swiftly disappear from match day squads for the next 20 days or so.
The reason behind this was, according to AS, because he wasn’t ‘at the best level’, with the newspaper describing the Watford loanee as arriving in Spain ‘notably overweight’.
Since then, things have changed a little bit for the 23-year-old, which will somewhat please the Hornets, even if his game time hasn’t improved drastically.
Brought on against Sevilla in a 1-0 loss for 34 minutes, Success was once again omitted from the weekend’s squad by José Manuel González, who also managed the Watford starlet during his time at Granada.
There was some good news from the 51-year-old manager, however, and that was the fact the young forward’s situation is improving.
He said on Saturday, relayed by AS: “Success is doing fine, but for this game [against Leganes], we’ll go with something else. He had a stage where he was phenomenal, and I know him better than anyone else.
“A lot of criticism has gone his way, and at me too. That’s football. It seems our rivals want us to stay up”
Better, but still not great, it seems.
