Over the weekend, news from the English press claimed that Arsenal and Benfica would both be interested in Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson.

The 20-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season, although the club may have an extension option, and he’s still to reach a renewal agreement with Manchester United.

Currently on a season long loan at Shrewsbury, the goalkeeper has been called up for England’s U16, U17, U20 and U21 sides, so if he becomes a free agent, there’s likely to be interest.

And now it seem that the interest from Benfica could indeed be true, because Portuguese newspaper O Jogo is confirming it today.

They claim the Liga NOS club are looking to get into the English market and sign players from England, with Arsenal’s Chris Willock being the first last summer.

One of the reasons for that would be to get cheap players and make a huge profit in the future. In the last transfer window, Benfica got €75m by selling Ederson and Victor Lindelof to Premier League sides.

This is not the first time the Eagles have been interested in a Manchester United goalkeeper this year, as they were also keen on signing Joel Pereira, but failed.

Now would the club have the resources to attract Henderson?
