Manchester United goalkeeper Joel Pereira is reportedly still being considered by Benfica as a target for the next season.

Newspaper O Jogo has a big story today saying José Mourinho would be interested in signing the Lisbon side’s Ederson. And since they should also lose Paulo Lopes to retirement soon, it’s time to go for young goalkeepers.

That’s why Benfica would be keen on bringing in two Portuguese talents: Joel Pereira from Manchester United and André Pereira from Atlético Madrid.

CapturarThe interest in Joel is not something new, as it’s been reported since the January window. At the time, he was returning from his loan at Belenenses, and as reported by Sport Witness, Joel wanted the chance to prove himself at Manchester United.

But Pereira was unfortunate to pick up a knee injury, and did not get other chances. Now, it’s hard to tell what will happen, especially with the rumours regarding David De Gea’s departure from Old Trafford.

Benfica are said to have made first contacts for the signings, although no figures or developments are mentioned in the story. Pereira’s contract with Manchester United runs until 2020.
