Leeds United forward Marcus Antonsson has told the Swedish media his future with the Championship side is uncertain. In recent days it’s been claimed the 26 year old could return to his home country, with no shortage of interest.
“It’s a bit unclear now. Leeds is a fantastic club in every way, but playing time is the most important thing and I have to think about it. I feel I have to play football and develop. I don’t want to close any doors. But the plan has always been that I will not go home just yet.”
Antonsson signed for Leeds United from Kalmar last summer, but played just a handful of games in his debut season in England. Yesterday we covered reports from Sweden that IFK Norrköping, Hammarby, IFK Göteborg, Kalmar, Malmo and AIK are all monitoring the player.
The 26 year old has scored a couple of goals for Leeds United in preseason, and even if he doesn’t return to his home country this summer he may go elsewhere. Leeds United have strengthened in attack, and his chances next season are likely to be further limited.
