Obbi Oulare is taking his former agent to court over his move to Watford, with a claim he didn’t act in the player’s best interests.
That’s according to Het Belang van Limburg, who cover the player today and how he’s seeking €300,000 from his old representative over his move to Watford in 2015.
The striker joined the Hornets in a €7.5m deal from Club Brugge in July that year but would only make three first-team appearances for the club over a four-year period.
He would instead spend most of his time at Vicarage Road out on loan, playing for the likes of Zulte Waregem, Willem II, Royal Antwerp and Standard Liege before joining the latter on a permanent basis in 2019.
It’s fair to say the move to Watford was a complete disaster and it seems the striker is now seeking compensation for the matter.
Het Belang van Limburg report that he is demanding more than €300,000 from his former agent, who he claims cheated him.
Neither he nor the agent appeared in court yesterday in Hasselt but were presented by lawyers, who presented the case to the court. Oulare was represented by lawyer Pieter Helsen, who laid bare the facts for his client.
“This is a classic story of a broker who tries to earn as much money as possible from a young football player,” he said.
“It wasn’t his dream club. Oulare didn’t know much about Watford either. The opposite was also true. The Watford trainer had never heard of Oulare.”
